6 - WPT PAGES140 190-00357-00 Rev GCreating User WaypointsThe following descriptions and abbreviationsappear on the User Waypoint Page:• REF WPT — Reference waypoint identifier(name)• RAD — Radial from reference waypoint,in degrees magnetic or degreestrue (depending upon unit con-figuration)• DIS — Distance from referencewaypoint, in nautical miles/stat-ute miles/kilometers (dependingupon unit configuration)• Position — Latitude/Longitude (degrees/minutes or degrees/minutes/sec-onds), MGRS or UTM/UPSUser waypoints may only be selected by name(identifier).Creating User WaypointsUser waypoints may be created from the UserWaypoint Page or the Map Page. To create a newuser waypoint, simply enter its name (identifier) andposition, or reference another waypoint by radial anddistance.To create a new user waypoint by entering itslatitude/longitude position:1. With the User Waypoint Page displayed, pressthe small right knob to activate the cursor.2. Use the small and large right knobs to entera name for the new waypoint and press ENT.Your present position appears in the positionfield at the bottom of the page. To create awaypoint at your present position, turn thelarge right knob to highlight “Create?” andskip to step #6.Use the small and large right knobs to entera name for the new waypoint. When youpress ENT, your present position automati-cally appears in the “Position” field.3. Turn the large right knob to highlight theposition field at the bottom of the page.To enter a different position, highlight theposition field and use the small and largeright knobs to enter the new position coor-dinates.4. Use the small and large right knobs to enter theposition coordinates for the new waypoint.5. Press ENT to accept the selected position.6. The cursor moves to “Create?”. Press ENT toadd the new waypoint to memory.7. Press the small right knob to remove theflashing cursor.
