Attention:v To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the BladeCenter unit for morethan one minute for the BladeCenter unit and 20 minutes for the BladeCenter Tunit without either a blade server, expansion unit, or filler blade installed in eachblade bay.v Note the bay number. Reinstalling a blade server into a different bay than theone from which it was removed could have unintended consequences. Someconfiguration information and update options are established according to baynumber; if you reinstall the blade server into a different bay, you might need toreconfigure the blade server.Complete the following steps to remove the blade server:1. If the blade server is operating, shut down the operating system; then, press thepower-control button (behind the blade server control panel door) to turn off theblade server (see “Blade server controls and LEDs” on page 10).Attention: Wait at least 30 seconds, until the drives stop spinning, beforeproceeding to the next step.2. Open the two release levers (see Figure 8 on page 29 and Figure 9 on page29). The blade server moves out of the bay approximately 0.6 cm (0.25 inch).Note: You must remove the bezel assembly from the BladeCenter T unit beforeyou can access the blade server. Firmly grip the blue touch points (at thetop-left and top-right sides of the bezel) and forcefully pull forward, liftingthe bezel up and away from the BladeCenter T unit. Carefully set thebezel assembly aside in a safe place (see the BladeCenter T Types 8720and 8730 Installation and User's Guide for detailed information aboutreinstalling the bezel assembly).3. Pull the blade server out of the bay. Spring-loaded doors farther back in the baymove into place to cover the bay temporarily.4. Place either a filler blade or another blade server in the bay within one minutefor the BladeCenter unit and 20 minutes for the BladeCenter T unit.
