Verify that:v The keyboard/mouse/video select button LED on the front of the bladeserver is lit, indicating that the blade server is connected to the sharedBladeCenter monitor.v The system power cord is plugged into the BladeCenter power module and aworking electrical outlet.v The monitor cables are connected properly.v The monitor is turned on and the Brightness and Contrast controls areadjusted correctly.v If the computers are C2T chained together, verify that:– The C2T chain cables are securely connected to the computers.– The C2T breakout cable is connected properly.– A computer that is turned on is selected.Important: In some memory configurations, the 3-3-3 beep code might soundduring POST followed by a blank display screen. If this occurs and the BootFail Count feature in the Start Options of the Configuration/Setup Utilityprogram is set to Enabled (its default setting), you must restart the computerthree times to force the system BIOS to reset the CMOS values to the defaultconfiguration (memory connector or bank of connectors enabled).2. Make sure that damaged BIOS code is not affecting the video; see “Recoveringthe BIOS code” on page 25.3. If you have verified these items and the screen remains blank, replace:a. Monitorb. Management module on the BladeCenter (see the IBM BladeCenter Type8677 Hardware Maintenance Manual and Troubleshooting Guide).Only the cursor appears. v Verify that the keyboard, video and mouse on the BladeCenter have not beenswitched to another blade server. If the problem remains, see“Undeterminedproblems” on page 90.The monitor goes blank whenyou direct it to a working bladeserver, or goes blank when youstart some application programsin the blade servers.v Verify that the monitor cable is connected to the video port on the BladeCentermanagement module. Some IBM monitors have their own self-tests. If yoususpect a problem with the monitor, see the information that comes with themonitor for adjusting and testing instructions.If you still cannot find the problem, try using the monitor with another bladeserver.
