5. If an IDE hard disk drive is in IDE connector 2, remove the drive and tray (savethe screws that secured the tray to the system board); otherwise, remove thetwo existing screws near IDE connector 2 that secure the system board to thechassis, as shown in Figure 24 on page 45.6. Install the I/O expansion card:a. Install the I/O expansion card tray. Secure the tray to the system board withthe screws from the option kit, as shown in Figure 24 on page 45.b. Orient the I/O expansion card as shown in Figure 24 on page 45.c. Slide the notch in the narrow end of the card into the raised hook on thetray; then, gently pivot the wide end of the card into the I/O expansion cardconnectors, as shown in the illustration.Note: For device driver and configuration information to complete theinstallation of the I/O expansion card, see the documentation that comeswith the option. Some documentation might also be on the IBMBladeCenter Documentation CD or the IBM BladeCenter TDocumentation CD that comes with the BladeCenter unit.7. If you have other options to install or remove, do so now; otherwise, go to“Completing the installation” on page 52.Installing an expansion unitYou can install an optional BladeCenter SCSI Storage Expansion Unit or PeripheralCard Interface (PCI) I/O Expansion Unit on the blade server.Important: To avoid potential performance and reliability problems whenconfiguring or replacing drives in a mirrored configuration, ensure thatthe storage capacities and speeds of the drives are identical.Notes:1. After you install the SCSI storage expansion unit on the blade server, the bladeserver and expansion unit become a single unit that occupies two blade bays inthe BladeCenter unit.2. To ensure proper cooling and system reliability, make sure that each of theSCSI hard disk drive bays on the SCSI storage expansion unit contains either ahot-swap SCSI hard disk drive or a filler panel. For a list of SCSI hard disk drives supported by the blade server, go to theServerProven list at http://www.ibm.com/pc/us/compat/.Figure 25 on page 47 shows how to install the SCSI storage expansion unit on theblade server.46 BladeCenter HS20 Type 8832: Hardware Maintenance Manual and Troubleshooting Guide
