If the noise is a different volume than thenoise from the left front speaker, use orto adjust the volume so that the volume matchesthe volume from the left front speaker. (Do notbe concerned with the volume number readouton the Level display—this is for referencepurposes only. Use your ears to determine if thetwo speakers are playing at the same volume).8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until all the system’s speakers(except the subwoofer) play at the same volume.9. To confirm the volume levels, touch until theTest Tone display reads “Auto.” The test noise willautomatically cycle between all of the speakers.Fine-tune the channel levels as necessary.10. When all the channels sound like they’re thesame volume, you’ve balanced your system.11. To turn off the test noise, touch until theTest Tone display reads “Off.”Setting the Subwoofer Level: Because of theway humans hear, the test noise the SpeakerLevel menu sends through the subwoofer willnot sound as loud as it really is. (The SpeakerLevel menu subwoofer test noise is designed tobe used with a sound pressure level meter forbalancing.) Because of this, you cannot use thattest noise to properly calibrate the level of yoursubwoofer by ear. To set the subwoofer level,listen to familiar music or films that have strongbass content and adjust the subwoofer level untilit sounds balanced with the rest of the speakers.12.Touch to move to the next speaker setting ortouch to return to the Surround menu.Bass Peak LevelBecause of the way humans hear, the test noise theSpeaker Level menu sends through the subwooferwill not sound as loud as it really is. (This SpeakerLevel menu subwoofer test noise is designed to beused with a sound pressure level meter forbalancig.) Because of this, you cannot use that testnoise to properly calibrate the level of yoursubwoofer by ear. The PowerTouch contains aseparate setup menu for the subwoofer.To set the subwoofer level:1. If you are not already there, touchon the Setup Surround menu to open the BassPeak Level memu.2. Touch until the Test Tone display reads“On”.3. Test noise will play from the subwoofer. Care-fully listen to the volume level of the noise.4. Use the left ( ) or right ( ) Level arrows toraise the volume until the sound will be almostdistorted.5. Touch to save your settings.6. Touch to return to the Surround menu.7. Touch to return to the Setup menu. Touch itagain to return to the Main menu. You are nowfinished setting up the speakers.Identifying Devices For PowerTouch ControlOnce your speakers are set up and configured, youmust identify your component devices toPowerTouch. PowerTouch can be set up to controlany device: if the device code is not already part ofPowerTouch’s extensive library, you can use the Learnfeature to teach the device’s commands toPowerTouch.
