Installing the Operating System with Express Setup 5-29About Maintenance Partition (the area displayed as "MAINTE_P")The maintenance partition for server maintenance is reserved in the head of Hard Disk Drive (apartition of approximately 50MB).This area is for saving some maintenance utilities.Do not delete the maintenance partition.Creating Partition SizeThe minimum size for the partition that the system is to be installed can be calculated from thefollowing formula.Size necessary to install the system + Paging File Size + Dump File SizeSize necessary to install the system = 1000MBPaging File Size (Recommended) = Mounted Memory Size * 1.5Dump file Size = Mounted Memory Size + 12MBIMPORTANT: The above paging file size is necessary for collecting debuginformation (memory dump). If you set the default value ofpaging file size smaller than the 'recommended' value, the accuratedebug information (memory dump) may not be collected. The maximum paging file size which can be set on one partition is4095MB. If the above paging file size exceeds 4095MB, specify4095MB for the paging file size. The maximum dump file size for the system with more than 2GBmemory mounted is '2048MB + 12MB'. If you install any application program or the like, add necessaryspace to the partition to install these programs. For example, if the mounted memory size is 512MB, the minimally required partition size will becalculated by the above formula as follows:1000MB + (512MB * 1.5) + (512MB + 12MB) = 2292MBNOTES:If you want to install using Express Setup, calculate the minimallyrequired partition size as follows: If you do not apply Windows 2000 Service PackThe larger value of either one: 'Minimum Partition Size' describedabove, or '4095MB'. If you want to apply Windows 2000 Service PackThe larger value of either one: 'Minimum Partition Size' describedabove + 850MB or '4095MB'.
