9-56 Upgrading Your ServerProcessor BoardTo install or remove the processor (CPU), remove the processor board.RemovalRemove the processor board in the following procedure.IMPORTANT: The processor board is extremely sensitive to staticelectricity. Make sure to touch the metal frame of the server todischarge static electricity from your body before handling theprocessor board. Do not touch the processor board terminals or on-board parts by a bare hand or place the processor board directly on thedesk. For static notes, see the section "Anti-static Measures" describedearlier.1. See the section "Preparing for Installation and Removal" described earlier to prepare.2. Pull out the server from the rack.3. Remove the rear access cover.4. Remove the CPU access cover.5. Remove the memory board.6. Remove the processor board air duct.7. Rotate the handles on the processor board until they are fully open. (1)8. Using the handles, tilt the processor board up and remove it from the chassis. (2)9. Place the processor board on a clean, dry, and static-free place.
