Installing and Connecting a WLAN—Security Switch 39WLAN—Security Switch 2300 Series Installation and Basic Configuration GuideWLAN Management Software Network PlanIf you are using WLAN Management Software to plan your Nortel Mobility System installation, Nortel recommendsthat you create and verify a network plan for the entire Nortel network installation before installing WSSs or AP accesspoints. A network plan provides the following information:• Number of WSSs required at your site, and where to install them• Number of AP access points required for adequate WLAN capacity in each coverage area, and where to install them• Configuration settings for all the WSSs and AP access points in the WLAN, which can be automatically deployedto the devices by WLAN Management Software .(For information about installing WLAN Management Software and creating and verifying a network plan, see theNortel WLAN Management Software User’s Guide.)Installation LocationWSS-2370 and 2380 switch fans and air inlets are located on the sides of the switch. 2360 switch fans are located in therear of the switch and air inlets are located on the sides of the switch. In the 2370 and 2380 switches, separate powersupply fans are located on the front. Make sure these areas have adequate ventilation after installation. Do not block airvents.Caution! The WSS has been designed and tested to be installed in an operatingambient temperature of 0° C to +50° C (32° F to 122° F). To reduce the risk of equipmentdamage, install equipment with consideration to these ambient conditions.Caution! Do not stack 2350 switches. Stacked 2350 switches can overheat and causeloss of equipment functionality or permanent damage.Caution! Ensure adequate airflow around 2350 switches. The 2350 switch usesnatural convection cooling and requires free entry of air. Airflow blockage can cause thesystem to overheat and result in a loss of equipment functionality or permanent damage.
