Presignal and Positive Alarm Sequence (PAS) Special Zone OutputsNFS-3030 Programming Manual P/N 51345:C 11/4/03 103Appendix C: Special Zone OutputsC.1 Presignal and Positive Alarm Sequence (PAS)What is Presignal and PAS?PurposePresignal is a feature that initially causes alarm signals to only sound in specific areas, monitoredby qualified persons. This allows delay of the alarm up to 180 seconds after the start of alarmprocessing. The control panel Presignal feature provides two selections:•A Presignal Delay Timer (1:00 to 3:00 minutes) that delays activation of all outputs with aCBE that includes Special Zone ZF0.•A PAS (Positive Alarm Sequence) selection, in addition to the Presignal Delay Timer, thatallows a 15-second time period for acknowledging an alarm signal from a fire detection/initiating device. If the alarm is not acknowledged within 15 seconds, all local and remoteoutputs activate immediately and automatically. An illustration of Presignal and PAS timing.Appendix Figure C-1 Presignal and PAS TimeThe control panel delays activation of outputs containing ZF0 in their zone maps for all alarminitiating devices that contain ZF0 in their CBE list. A subsequent alarm will abort the PresignalDelay Timer and execute CBE lists.Notes on using ZF0•NFPA 72 requires installation of a PAS Inhibit switch, that can be used to turn off the PASdelay timer when the control panel is unattended. Do so by programming a monitormodule with the Type Code, PAS INHIBIT .•The Presignal Delay timer countdown can be stopped by pressing the SYSTEM RESET keybefore the timer expires.•Program zone ZF0 to participating inputs and outputs.Restrictions on using ZF0•Do not include ZF0 in the CBE list for a releasing device.•Do not include ZF0 in the CBE list for any monitor module that connects to a device otherthan an automatic fire detector.Initial alarmannunciationAlarm activates outputs, if thecontrol panel is not resetIf PAS=Y, alarm activatesoutputs if not acknowledgedPresignal Delay Timer (60-180 s)PAS (15 s)www.PDF-Zoo.com
