142 Connection with external device: Connection with external devices using the USB 2.0 portBy connecting the unit with an external PC using USB 2.0, the P2 card inserted to the unit can be used as a mass storagedevice.1 Connect the USB cable to the USB 2.0 port.¡Notesy The USB 2.0 cable is not included with the unit.Please use a commercially available USB 2.0 cable(shield with a ferrite core).y Although the unit supports USB cables up to 5 meterslong, cables up to 3-meters long are recommended.a. USB 2.0 port (DEVICE)2 Navigate the menu to open the screen on the SYSTEM SETTING page. Then, set thePC MODE SELECT menu option to “USB DEV.” and thePC MODE option to “ON”.¡NoteThe function of the menu option PC MODE may beassigned to a desired user button by using any one ofthe menu options USER MAIN SW, USER1 SW,USER2 SW, MARKER SEL or TEXT MEMO SW.These options can be found in the screenon the CAM OPERATION page.¡Notesy A USB driver must be installed on the PC.y The unit is only applicable to USB 2.0. Use a PC thatsupports USB 2.0.y Only one unit at a time must be connected to the PCvia USB.y The P2 card must not be removed when it isconnected via USB.y While a USB connection is established, the P2 card’saccess LED should not be lit except when access isbeing carried out.y When a USB device is active, recording, playback, ornavigation through clip thumbnails is disabled.During a USB connection, the USB LED on the sidepanel stays illuminated. Also, “USB DEVICE” isdisplayed in the system information/warning area in theviewfinder.When the connection is not correctly established, bothof these indications blink.b.
