Section 700 - Operation Chapter 3. System FeaturesICX-40-700 ICX (International) issued December 1999 3-39Hardware Requirements• ICX: The CPC-96 supports up to 96 ports. The CP-288 supports up to 288 ports and should becombined with time switch card TSW288. The CPC-576 supports up to 576 ports and should becombined with time switch card TSW576.• S-ICX: The CPC-HS supports 78 (max. 32 extensions). The CPC-HM supports up to 132 ports(max. 64 extensions).Power Failure TransferDescriptionPower Failure Transfer provides telephone service to a limited number of Single Line Telephones(SLTs) during a power failure. The SLTs are connected to the CO/Exchange line via a Power FailureUnit (PFU). In the event of a power failure, the power failure extensions have dial tone directly fromthe CO/Exchange line. (System features and restrictions do not apply.)Hardware Requirements• PFU (VB-43703)• An SLT that will be connected to the PFU.Considerations• Up to four SLTs can be connected to one PFU.• For added protection against power outages, backup batteries can be installed in the System.Backup batteries provide full telephone service and system features to all System extensions fora limited amount of time. With maximum traffic, the backup batteries last up to 30 minutes in theICX and 15 minutes in the S-ICX.Power On MaintenanceDescriptionThe System allows you to change most circuit cards, programming, and many other maintenancefeatures while the System is powered on and operating. Very few operations require the System to bepowered down or out of service. The System therefore continues to operate without interruption formost maintenance functions.A limited number of items such as the replacement of some common control circuit cards requires thesystem to be powered down.
