Theplatform is maintained level to the turntable. Toaccomplish Note: Do not rest the entire weight ofthe boom on the blocks. this, the ECM at theground controls compares the difference inreadings between the platform angle sensor andthe turntable level sensor, which then sends asignal to the platform controls to open or close theappropriate platform level proportional valve on theplatform manifold to maintain a level platform. Theplatform leveling cylinder is equipped withcounterbalance valves to prevent movement in theevent of a hydraulic line failure.How to Remove the PlatformLeveling CylinderNote: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hoseend must be replaced. All connections must betorqued to specification during installation. Refer toSpecifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting TorqueSpecifications. Extend the boom until the platformleveling cylinder barrel-end pivot pin is accessible.1 Raise the jib boom slightly and place blocksunder the platform.2 Lower the jib boom until the platform is restingon the blocks just enough to support theplatform.Note: Do not rest the entire weight of the boom onthe blocks.3 Secure the platform leveling cylinder to the jibboom for support.4 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hosesfrom the platform leveling cylinder at thebulkhead fittings located inside the boom tubeat the platform end and connect themtogether using a connector. Cap the bulkheadfittings on the boom tube.Bodily injury hazard. Sprayinghydraulic oil can penetrate andburn skin. Loosen hydraulicconnections very slowly to allowthe oil pressure to dissipategradually. Do not allow oil tosquirt or spray.5 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from theplatform leveling cylinder rod-end pivot pin.Do not remove the pin.6 Remove the external snap ring from thebarrel-end pivot pin. Do not remove the pin.7 Support the platform leveling cylinder with asuitable lifting device. Protect the cylinder rodfrom damage.
