May 2020 Service and Repair ManualBoom ComponentsPart No. 1271700GT SX™-105 XC™ • SX™-125 XC™ 5549 Remove and label the top and side wear padsfrom the number 0 boom tube at the platformend of the boom. Do not remove the bottomwear pads.Note: Pay careful attention to the location andamount of shims used with each wear pad.50 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the number 1 boom tube at the platformend of the boom.51 Support and slide the number 1 boom tubeout of the number 0 boom tube. When thenumber 1 boom tube is approximately halfwayremoved, remove the bottom wear pads fromthe number 0 boom tube at the platform endof the boom.Crushing hazard. The number1 boom tube may becomeunbalanced and fall when it isremoved from the number 0boom tube if it is not properlysupported and attached to theoverhead crane.Note: During removal, the overhead crane strapwill need to be adjusted for proper balancing.How to Disassemble the Boom,SX-105 ModelsNote: Complete disassembly of the boom is onlynecessary if the outer or inner boom tubes mustbe replaced. The primary boom extension cylindercan be removed without completely disassemblingthe boom. See Repair Procedure, How to Removethe Primary Extension Cylinder.1 Remove the boom. See Repair Procedure,How to Remove the boom.2 Remove the retaining fasteners from theaccess covers on both sides of the boom atthe pivot end. Remove the access covers.1 side access covers3 Secure the number 2 and number 3 boomtubes together with a strap or chain to preventthem from moving.4 Remove the cable clamp from the cable breaklimit switch wiring.
