Remove the cable-end blockmounting plate.25 Remove the trunnion pin retaining fasteners.26 Use a slide hammer to remove the trunnionpins from the primary boom extensioncylinder.Note: Use a ½-13 bolt thread on each end of theslide hammer.27 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the lifting eye on the primary boomextension cylinder.28 Support and slide the primary boom extensioncylinder out of the boom assembly whileguiding the cables out of the boom and placeit on a structure capable of supporting it.Crushing hazard. The primaryboom extension cylinder maybecome unbalanced and fallwhen it is removed from theboom if it is not properlysupported and attached to theoverhead crane.Component damage hazard.Cables can be damaged if theyare kinked, pinched or snaggedduring removal.Note: During removal, the overhead crane strapwill need to be adjusted for proper balancing.How to Remove the SecondaryBoom Extension Cylinder, SX-125 XC ModelsBodily injury hazard. Thisprocedure requires specific repairskills, lifting equipment and asuitable workshop. Attemptingthis procedure without theseskills and tools could result indeath or serious injury andsignificant component damage.Dealer service is stronglyrecommended.Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,the O-ring on the fitting and/or hose end must bereplaced and then torqued to specification duringinstallation.Refer to Specifications, Hydraulic Hose and FittingTorque Specifications.1 Raise the boom until the secondary boomextension cylinder barrel-end pivot pin isabove the turntable covers.2 Remove the secondary boom extend cylindercover retaining fasteners. Remove the covers.Bodily injury hazard. Do notoperate the machine unless thesecondary extend cylindercovers are properly installed.Operating the machine with thecovers removed could result indeath or serious injury.
