Service Parts Disassembly 8-3General Notes on DisassemblyPreparationBefore you begin any removal and replacement procedure:1. Switch OFF the printer power and disconnect the power cord from the walloutlet.2. Remove the Imaging Unit and protect it from exposure to light by covering itwith a light proof bag or by placing it in a light-tight container. Disconnect allcomputer interface cables from the printer.3. Wear an electrostatic discharge wrist strap to help prevent damage to the sensitiveelectronics of the printer circuit boards.4. Remove the Fuser Assembly or wait at least 5 minutes after you have switchedOFF printer power for the Fuser to cool before you work on or around the Fuser.NoteNames of parts that appear in the removal and replacement procedures may notbe exactly the same as the names that appear in the Parts List. For example; a partcalled the Registration Chute Assembly in a removal procedure may appear onthe Parts List as Assembly, Chute REGI. When working on a removal andreplacement procedure, ignore any prerequisite procedure if you have alreadyremoved that part.CautionMany parts are secured by plastic tabs DO NOT over Flex or force these parts.Do not over torque the screws threaded into plastic parts.Always use the correct type and size screw. Using the wrong screw can damagetapped holes. Do not use excessive force to remove or install either a screw or aprinter part.WarningUnplug the AC power cord from the wall outlet before removing any printer part.Notations in the Disassembly Text■ The notation “(item X)” points to a numbered callout in the illustrationcorresponding to the disassembly procedure being performed.■ The notation “PLX.X.X” indicates that this component is listed in the Parts List.■ Bold arrows in an illustration show direction of movement when removing orreplacing a component.manuals4you.commanuals4you.com
