6.2 InspectionYASKAWA ELECTRIC TOEP C710606 09B YASKAWA AC Drive V1000 Installation & Start-Up Manual 249Periodic Inspection &Maintenance6◆ Recommended Periodic InspectionTable 6.2 outlines the recommended periodic inspections for Yaskawa drive installations.Periodic inspections should generally be checked every 3-6 months; however, the drive mayrequire more frequent inspection due to poor environments or rigorous use. Operating andenvironmental conditions, along with experience in each application, will determine theactual inspection frequency for each installation. Periodic inspection will help to avoidpremature deterioration in performance or product failure. Copy this checklist and mark the“Checked” column after each inspection.■ Periodic InspectionWARNING! Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not connect or disconnect wiring while the power is on. Failure tocomply can result in serious personal injury. Before servicing the drive, disconnect all power to theequipment. The internal capacitor remains charged even after the power supply is turned off. The chargeindicator LED will extinguish when the DC bus voltage is below 50 Vdc. To prevent electric shock, wait atleast five minutes after all indicators are OFF and measure the DC bus voltage level to confirm safe level.Table 6.2 Periodic Inspection ChecklistInspectionArea Inspection Points Corrective Action CheckedMain Circuit Periodic InspectionGeneral• Overall check of the main power circuitand ground terminalsTake appropriate actions(e.g., tightening loose connections).• Inspect equipment for discoloration fromoverheating or deterioration.• Inspect for damaged or deformed parts.• Replace damaged components asrequired.• The drive has few serviceable partsand may require complete drivereplacement.• Inspect for dirt, foreign particles, or dustcollection on components.• Inspect enclosure door seal if present.Replace components if cleaning is notpossible.• Use dry air to clear away foreignmatter. Use a pressure of39.2 x 104 to 58.8 x 104 Pa(4 - 6 kg •cm 2 ).Conductors andWiring• Inspect wiring and connections fordiscoloration, damage, or heat stress.• Inspect wire insulation and shielding forwear.• Repair or replace damaged wiring.Terminals • Inspect terminals for stripped, damaged,or loose connections.• Tighten loose screws and replacedamaged screws or terminals.Relays andContactors• Inspect contactors and relays forexcessive noise during operation.• Inspect coils for signs of overheatingsuch as melted or cracked insulation.• Check coil voltage for over or undervoltage conditions.• Replace damaged removable relayscontactors or circuit board.
