Check for water flow at the cooling waterpilot hole. If there is no water flow, checkthe cooling water passages inside theoutboard motor.Inspecting idle speed1. Start the engine and warm it up for 5–10minutes.2. Check the engine idle speed using theYamaha genuine tachometer (on-boardmeter) or the YDIS. To connect andoperate the YDIS, see the “YDIS (Ver.1.33 or later) Instruction Manual.”Changing engine oilThe engine oil should be extracted using anoil changer.Change the engine oil after the first 20hours of operation or 3 months, and every100 hours or at 1-year intervals thereafter.1. Place the outboard motor in an uprightposition. NOTICE: If the outboardmotor is not level, the oil level indi-cated on the dipstick may not be cor-rect.2. Start the engine and warm it up for 5–10minutes.3. Stop the engine and leave it off for 5–10minutes.4. Remove the top cowling.5. Remove the oil filler cap 1.
