B-7Configuring the SCSI Card 2930CU with SCSISelect BIOS Support for Int 13 Extensions—When set to Enabled, theSCSI card BIOS supports Int 13h extensions as required by Plug-and-Play. The setting can be either enabled or disabled if yoursystem is not Plug-and-Play.Using SCSI Disk UtilitiesTo access the SCSI disk utilities1 From the main SCSISelect menu, select SCSI Disk Utilities.SCSISelect scans the SCSI bus and displays a list of all SCSI IDsand the devices.2 Use the ↑ and ↓ keys to move the cursor to a specific ID anddevice, then press Enter.3 A small menu appears, displaying two options: Format Disk—Allows you to perform a low-level format ona hard disk drive. (Most SCSI disks are preformatted at thefactory and do not need to be formatted again.) Each harddisk drive must be low-level formatted before you can useyour operating system’s partitioning and file preparationutilities, such as MS-DOS Fdisk and Format.Caution: A low-level format destroys all data on thehard disk drive. Be sure to back up your data beforeperforming this operation. You cannot stop a low-levelformat once it is started; therefore, do not turn thepower off to stop this operation. Verify Disk Media—Allows you to scan the media of a harddisk drive for defects. If the utility finds bad blocks on themedia, it prompts you to reassign them; if you select Yes,those blocks are no longer used. You can press Esc at anytime to stop the utility.!
