Basic InstallationAXIS 5570e User’s Manual 13Section 3 Basic InstallationQuick OverviewFollow these steps to make your printer network ready:1. Connect the Hardware, on page 132. Setting the IP Address, on page 153. “Installation Guide” on page 14Connect the Hardware1. Make sure that the printer is switched off and that the Power Adapter isdisconnected from the print server.2. Locate the serial number, found on the underside label of the print server,and write it down. Example: S/N: 00408c181cf03. Connect the printer(s) to the print server.4. Connect the print server to the network (Ethernet Connector) using atwisted pair RJ45 cable (of category 5 or better).5. Switch on the printer and make sure it is ready for printing (display showing“Online”, “Ready”, etc.).6. Connect the Power Adapter to the print server. The power indicator lightsup. If the network indicator starts to flash, the print server is correctlyconnected to the network.7. Wait 1 minute and press the test button once. A test page will be printedon the connected printer — keep it handy during the installation. The testpage will show the assigned IP address of the print server.The print server can now be installed in your network using one of themethods detailed in the Installation Guide, on page 14.Notes:• The test page includes a list of the most important parameters, including the networkspeed and the firmware version number.• Each print server is pre-configured with a unique node address that is identical to theserial number. The node address can be changed using any standard Web browser. Pleaserefer to Management and Configuration, on page 127, for more information.• The AXIS 5570e uses high speed Centronics communication. For use with older printersnot supporting high speed, this function can be disabled by using any standard Webbrowser. Please refer to “Management and Configuration” on page 127, for moreinformation.
