The Special Database Window3-17CSX Bridge ViewReceive Port List BoxThe receive ports available on the bridge are listed here. This box allows you toselect the port at which a packet must be received in order for the filter in questionto be applied. Selecting “All” will allow the filter to be applied to packets at anyreceive port.Destination Ports List BoxUse this box to select one or more ports to which any packets matching filterparameters will be forwarded.Filter NumberEach filter has a unique identifying number. The rest of the information in thewindow describes the filter identified by the displayed number. When the bridgeuses the Special Database to make a forwarding decision, it starts with the lowestnumbered enabled filter.Filter StateEach filter in the Special Database can be enabled or disabled individually.OffsetThe Offset defines the starting point of a 64 byte window in a received frame’sdata field that is examined for a match to a filter entry. Offset “0” means that thecomparison begins at the first bit after the packet’s header field.Destination AddressThe bridge compares the Destination Address entered in this field to theDestination Address of a received frame. An “X” in any position serves as awildcard, forcing a match for that position.Source AddressThe bridge compares the Source Address entered in this field to the SourceAddress of a received frame. An “X” in any position serves as a wildcard, forcinga match for that position.TypeThe Type field (also known as the Length field) identifies the packet type (Novell,AppleTalk, and so forth). The bridge compares this Type to the Type field of areceived frame. An “X” in any position serves as a wildcard, forcing a match forthat position.DataThe four lines of Data in the Special Database window show the values that thefilter compares to a 64 bit window of the data field of a received frame, beginningat the Offset.
