With the vehicle off, andthe brake pedal not applied,pressing and holding the button formore than five seconds will placethe vehicle in Service Only Mode.The instruments and audio systemswill operate as they do in ON/RUN,but the vehicle will not be able to bedriven. The engine will not start inService Only Mode. Press thebutton again to turn the vehicle off.Starting the EngineMove the shift lever to P (Park) orN (Neutral). The engine will not startin any other position. To restart theengine when the vehicle is alreadymoving, use N (Neutral) only.{ CautionDo not try to shift to P (Park) if thevehicle is moving. If you do, youcould damage the transmission.Shift to P (Park) only when thevehicle is stopped.{ CautionIf you add electrical parts oraccessories, you could changethe way the engine operates. If equipped with the KeylessAccess system, the RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) transmittermust be in the vehicle. Put yourfoot on the brake pedal andpress the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the enginebegins cranking, let go of thebutton.The idle speed will go down asthe engine gets warm. Do notrace the engine immediatelyafter starting it. Operate theengine and transmission gentlyto allow the oil to warm up andlubricate all moving parts.If the RKE transmitter is not inthe vehicle or something isinterfering with the transmitter,the Driver Information Center(DIC) will display a message.See Key and Lock Messages onpage 5-40.If the battery in the RKEtransmitter needs replacing, theDIC will display a message.
