8-4 Receiving Faxes Chapter 8Setting the Options for Fax/Tel ModeIf you set Fax/Tel Mode, you can control precisely how the MultiPASS handlesincoming calls by adjusting the following settings:• Adjust the time the unit takes to check whether a call is from a fax machine or atelephone (RING START TIME setting).• Adjust the length of time the unit rings when the call is a voice call (F/T RING TIMEsetting).• Set whether the MultiPASS switches to receive mode after the ring time set in F/TRING TIME has elapsed (DEFAULT ACTION setting).nThese options can also be set from the MultiPASS Suite. Pick up thehandset to talk.If you don’t pick up the handset(within 15 sec.).DEFAULT ACTIONChoose between:RECEIVE (factory default setting) and DISCONNECT.DISCONNECTRECEIVE(Factory default setting)(The fax tone isdetected and theMultiPASS switchesto receive mode.)The MultiPASSdisconnects the call.Not all fax machines are capable of sending afax tone. For those cases if you set theDEFAULT ACTION to RECEIVE, the MultiPASSswitches to receive mode automatically andstarts receiving the document.
