Chapter 13 Troubleshooting 13-7TroubleshootingMessage Error Code Cause ActionCHECK PRINTERCLEAR PAPER JAMCOLOR INK EMPTYCONVERT CLR>B&W?————There may be anobstruction that is notallowing the cartridgeholder mechanism tomove.The BJ cartridge maybe defective.Printer malfunctionThere is a paper jam.The Color BJ tank inthe Color BJ cartridgeis empty or its ink mayhave dried out.The unit is confirmingthat it is all right toconvert a color documentto black & white and printit with the Black BJcartridge.Check for a paper clip orother small object, or thatthe orange protective capand tape are removed fromthe BJ cartridge. Checkalso for a paper jam andclear the jam if necessary(1 p. 13-4). Then pressResume and start again.Press Resume. Reinstallthe BJ cartridge (1 p. 2-13)and start again.In either case, if the errordoes not clear, tryunplugging the unit. Waitseveral minutes, then plugit back in. Also, try installinga new BJ cartridge.(1 p. 12-12)Contact the Customer CareCenter.Clear the paper jam(1 p. 13-4) and reloadpaper in the multi-purposetray. Press Resume.Clean the BJ cartridge printhead (1 p. 12-11). If themessage remains in theLCD, replace the Color BJtank (1 p. 12-15). The unitwill then print automaticallyany faxes received inmemory.Press T to convert thecolor document to black &white and print, or press #to cancel.
