7-6 Sending Faxes Chapter 7Sending MethodsThis section describes the methods and advantages of the two main sending methods:Memory sending and Manual sending.Memory SendingMemory sending is a quick and easy way to send a document. The MultiPASS scansthe document into its memory, and as the first page of a multipage document is beingscanned, the unit begins calling the other party and transmitting the information evenas the remaining pages are being scanned.Since the MultiPASS is multitasking, you can even scan a document into memory whilesending another document, receiving a document, or while the MultiPASS isautomatically printing a report. The MultiPASS has enough memory to store up to 42 pages* (fewer if the documentcontains many graphics or particularly dense text).Follow this procedure for memory sending:1 Open the document tray.2 Adjust the document feed lever for thedocument you are loading. (2 p. 4-2)3 Prepare the document and load it, facedown, in the ADF. (2 p. 4-3)• For color sending, press Color/B&W to (Currently used memory)turn on its light. (1 p. 7-2)• To adjust the resolution and contrast,(1 pp. 7-2, 7-4). (Standby to scan)• You may not be able to use memory sending ifthe percentage shown in the LCD is close to100%. Use manual sending instead. (1 p. 7-7)4 Dial the other party’s fax number. Ex:• For dialing methods, (1 p. 7-5).• If you enter the wrong number, press Stop, then enter the correct number.• If you must first dial a digit to get an outsideline (“9”, for example), add a pause after thatdigit by pressing Redial/Pause, as shown inthe LCD on the right.TEL= 9p7654321DOCUMENT READYMEMORY USED 0%* Based on ITU-T No. 1 Chart, standard mode.
