1-10 Introduction Chapter 1n Power Supply• Plug the MultiPASS into a standard 120 V AC 60 Hz, three-prong grounded outlet.Only operate the MultiPASS from the type of power source indicated on the unit’slabel. If you are not sure of the type of power available, consult your local powercompany.• Use only the power cord that came with the unit. Using a longer cord or extensioncord can cause the unit to malfunction. If you must use an extension cord with theMultiPASS, make sure that the total of the ampere ratings on the products pluggedinto the extension cord does not exceed the extension cord ampere rating. Also,make sure the total ampere rating of all products plugged into the wall outlet does notexceed the current amperage of the circuit breaker.• The MultiPASS is equipped with a three-prong, grounding-type plug provided with athird (grounding) pin. This plug will only fit into a grounding-type outlet. This is asafety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug into your outlet, contact anelectrician to replace your outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the grounding-type plug by breaking off the third prong or using a 3-to-2 adapter.• Do not plug the MultiPASS into the same circuit as an appliance such as an airconditioner, electric typewriter, television, or copier. Such devices generate electricalnoise that can interfere with your MultiPASS’ ability to send and receive faxes.• During electrical storms, disconnect the power cord from the power outlet. (Pleasenote that any documents stored in the unit’s memory will be deleted when you unplugthe unit.)• Unplug the MultiPASS only by pulling on the plug itself. Never pull on the cord.• Whenever you unplug the MultiPASS, wait at least five seconds before you plug it inagain.• Check the plug frequently and make sure that it is firmly plugged into the socket.c This product emits low level magnetic flux.If you use a cardiac pacemaker and feel abnormalities, please move away from thisproduct and consult your doctor.
