5-24 Chapter 5PC FaxingImporting the Address BookYou may have an existing address book, created by another application,containing the entries you want to use for the Address Book in the DesktopManager. In this event, you can import your address book to the DesktopManager.You can import addresses from any ASCII text file containing information that isseparated by a comma or tab. If the address information in the text file isseparated by a comma, the text file extension must be .CSV. If the addressinformation in the text file is separated by a tab, the text file extension must be.TXT. You must save your text file as a comma- or tab-separated text file beforeyou import it into the Desktop Manager. For more information about saving yourtext file, see your application’s user documentation. If you attempt to importinformation from a improperly formatted text file, the system alerts you of aproblem with importing.When you import the text file, you assign the appropriate field names to eachcolumn of information. For example, the column containing the contact’s namemust be titled as the name.To import addresses from a text file:1. With the Address Book open, click Import.2. In the Import Address Book dialog box, specify the location and filename toimport. Then click OK.
