56 Switch FeaturesIntegrated DHCP ServerPowerConnect M6220, M6348, M8024, and M8024-k switches include anintegrated DHCP server that can deliver host-specific configurationinformation to hosts on the network. The switch DHCP server allows you toconfigure IP address pools (scopes), and when a host’s DHCP client requestsan address, the switch DHCP server automatically assigns the host an addressfrom the pool.For information about configuring the DHCP server settings, see"Configuring DHCP Server Settings" on page 871.Management of Basic Network InformationThe DHCP client on the switch allows the switch to acquire information suchas the IP address and default gateway from a network DHCP server. You canalso disable the DHCP client and configure static network information.Other configurable network information includes a Domain Name Server(DNS), hostname to IP address mapping, and a default domain name.If the switch detects an IP address conflict on the management interface, itgenerates a trap and sends a log message.For information about configuring basic network information, see "Settingthe IP Address and Other Basic Network Information" on page 115.IPv6 Management FeaturesPowerConnect M6220, M6348, M8024, and M8024-k switches provide IPv6support for many standard management features including HTTP,HTTPS/SSL, Telnet, SSH, SNMP, SNTP, TFTP, and traceroute.Dual Software ImagesPowerConnect M6220, M6348, M8024, and M8024-k switches can store up totwo software images. The dual image feature allows you to upgrade the switchwithout deleting the older software image.
