Use the racadmcommand to configure the virtual floppy device to appear as a hard drive or a super-floppy driveto your operating system. The virtual floppy device configuration determines how your operating system will assign newdrive letters. For example, if your system is running Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 4 orWindows Server 2003, the operating system detects and configures the first detectable harddrive as the C drive. This behavior by Windows may cause the virtual floppy to be assigned withthe drive letter C if the virtual floppy was configured to appear as a hard drive. However, whenWindows detects your virtual floppy drive as a super-floppy drive during the installationprocedure or when it first detects the drive, it assigns a drive letter starting with A.To modify how the virtual floppy appears to the operating system (as a super-floppy drive orhard drive), use the racadm command to reconfigure the cfgFloppyEmulation object.NOTE: In the Windows Control Panel, Dell VSF and Dell Virtual VCD identify the Virtual Floppy andVirtual CD-ROM, respectively.Configuring the Virtual Floppy Feature as a Super FloppyTo configure your operating system to identify your virtual floppy as a super floppy starting withdrive letter A, change the cfgFloppyEmulation object setting to 1.For example:racadm config -g cfgRacVirtual -o cfgFloppyEmulation 1The DRAC 4 IDE Option ROM utility displays the following string during system restart:DELL-VIRTUALS-120 Removable Media DriveConfiguring the Virtual Floppy as a Hard DriveTo configure your operating system to identify your virtual floppy as a hard drive starting withdrive letter C, change the cfgFloppyEmulation object setting to 0.For example:racadm config -g cfgRacVirtual -o cfgFloppyEmulation 0In this example, the DRAC 4 IDE Option ROM utility displays the following string duringsystem restart:VIRTUALFLOPPY DRIVE Removable Media Drive
