The standby power source now powers the loads.Figure 3.3 – Manual Transfer Switch Operation3.4.2 TRANSFER BACK TO UTILITY POWERSOURCEWhen utility power has been restored, transfer back to that sourceand shut down the generator. This can be accomplished as fol-lows:1. S et the generator’s m ain circuit breaker to its O FF (or OPE N)position.2. L et the engine run for a m inute or two at no-load to stabilizethe internal te mperatures.3. S et the generator’s AUTO/O FF/MANUAL switch to its O FF (orOPE N) position. The engine should shut down.4. Check that utility power supply to the transfer switch is turnedO FF.DANGER Do not attempt to activate the transfer switchmanually until all power voltage supplies to theswitch have been positively turned off. Failure toturn off all power voltage supplies may result inextremely hazardous and possibly fatal electri-cal shock.5. Use the m anual transfer handle inside the transfer switch tomove the m ain contacts back to their UTI LITY position, i.e.,loads connected to the utility power source ( Figure 3.2) .6. Turn ON the utility power supply to the transfer switch usingthe m eans provided.7. S et the syste m to autom atic operation as outlined in Autom aticTransfer Operation section.3.5 SIDE COMPARTMENT (V-TWIN ONLY)(FIGURES 3.4 & 3.5)Local codes m ay require this compart m ent to be locked. A hasp isprovided so the owner can secure the compart m ent with their ownpadlock. Check local codes in the area.3.5.1 MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKERThis is a 2-pole breaker rated according to the Specifications sec-tion.3.5.2 EXTERIOR READY LIGHTSGreen LE D ‘ R eady’ light (10, 14, 17 & 20 KW) is on when util-•ity is present and switch is in AUTO indicating the generator isready and when the generator is running.R ed LE D ‘Alar m ’ light (10, 14, 17 & 20 KW) is on when the•generator is O FF or a fault is detected. (S ee the ProtectionsSyste ms section. )Yellow L E D ‘Maintenance’ light ( 17 & 20 KW ) ( S ee the•Protections Syste ms section. )3.5.3 120 VAC GFCI OUTLET & 15 AMP BREAKER(17 & 20 KW ONLY)These models are equipped with an external, 15 a mp, 120 volt,G FCI convenience outlet that is located in a compart m ent on theright side of generator ( Figure 1.3) .When the generator is running, in the absence of utility power, thisoutlet m ay also be used to power ite ms outside your hom e suchas lights or power tools. This outlet m ay also be used when utilitypower is present by running the generator in m anual mode. Thisoutlet does not provide power if the generator is not running. Thisoutlet is protected by a 15 a mp circuit breaker in the sa m e com-part m ent as the outlet.
