They must be cleared beforethe alar m m essage goes away. The alar m log records each occur-rence (see Appendix - " Menu Syste m" ) .Low Oil Pressure (Shutdown Alarm)A five (5) second delay on start-up and seven (7) second delayonce the engine is running. This switch ( Figure 3.6) has nor m ally closed contacts that areheld open by engine oil pressure during operation. Should the oilpressure drop below the five (5) P SI range, switch contacts closeand the engine shuts down. The unit should not be restarted untiloil level is verified.High Engine Temperature (Shutdown Alarm – AutoReset)A 10 second delay on start-up and one (1) second delay beforeshutdown. Auto reset when the condition clears and restart theengine if a valid start signal is still present. This switch’s contacts ( Figure 3.6) close if the te mperature shouldexceed approxi m ately 144° C (293° F ) , initiating an engine shut-down. Once the oil te mperature drops to a safe level the switch’scontacts open again.Over Crank (Shutdown Alarm)This occurs if the engine has not started within the specified crankcycle. (S ee " Cranking " section. )Figure 3.6 – Low Oil Pressure andHigh Temperature SwitchesOil FilterOilDrainHoseLow Oil Switch High Temp SwitchLoosenNOTE:The oil drain hose may be routed in the oppositedirection as shown in figure.Over Speed (Shutdown Alarm)4320 RPM for three (3) seconds or 4500 RPM i mm ediately. Thisfeature protects the generator from da m age by shutting it downif it happens to run faster than the preset li m it. This protectionalso prevents the generator from supplying an output that couldpotentially da m age appliances connected to the generator circuit.Contact the nearest D ealer if this failure occurs.RPM Sense Loss (Shutdown Alarm)During cranking, if the Control Board does not see a valid RPMsignal within three (3) seconds, it will shut down and lock out onRPM sense loss. While engine is running, if RPM signal is lost forone (1) second the Control Board will shut the engine down, wait15 seconds, then re-crank the engine. If no RPM signal is detectedwithin the first three (3) seconds of cranking, the Control Boardwill shut the engine down and latch out on RPM sensor loss. If theRPM signal is detected, the engine will start and run nor m ally. Ifthe RPM signal is subsequently lost again, the Control Board willtry one more re-crank atte mpt before latching out and displayingthe RPM sensor failure m essage.Under-frequency (Shutdown Alarm)After starting, if the generator stays under frequency for more than30 seconds it will shut down. The under-frequency setting is 50Hz.Internal Fault (Shutdown Alarm)This alar m cannot be cleared, call service dealer.Section 3 — OperationAir-cooled Generators
