Press the E NTE R key to unlatch anyactive fault and clear the corresponding alar m m essage.3.6.2 WARNINGSSecond Priority (Non-latching) Displayed on the control paneland the external yellow LE D (V-twins only) . Warnings autom ati-cally clear when the monitored condition goes away. Warnings arerecorded in the alar m log. Warnings cannot cause shutdowns.Low BatteryThe Control Board monitors battery voltage and displays a warn-ing if the battery voltage falls below 11.0 volts for one (1) m inute.Warning is autom atically cleared if the battery voltage rises above11.0 volts. Battery voltage is not monitored during the crankcycle.Exercise Set ErrorIf the exercise period becom es corrupted, a warning m essagewill be displayed. This m essage will only clear when the exerciseperiod is reset.3.6.3 MAINTENANCE ALERTS (10 - 20KW ONLY)Third priorityMaintenance MessageWhen a m aintenance period expires, a warning m essage will bedisplayed. (17 through 20k W models include an external yellowLE D which will illum inate. ) The alert can be reset by pressing theEnter key, which will cause the user to be prompted to confir mthe action. R esetting will clear the alert and reset the m aintenancecounters for all conditions annunciated. The history log will recordthe alert. The m aintenance counter will not accumulate withoutbattery power. Once battery power is restored, the set ti m e promptwill be displayed. The m aintenance counters will be adjusted to thenew ti m e and date.NOTE:Since most maintenance alerts will occur at thesame time (most have two (2) year intervals), onlyone will appear on the display at any one time. Oncethe first alert is cleared, the next active alert will bedisplayed.4.1 FUSEThe 7.5 a mp fuse on the control panel protects the D C controlcircuit against overload ( Figures 3.1 and 3.2) . This fuse is wiredin series with the battery output lead to the panel. If this fuse ele-m ent has m elted open, the engine will not be able to crank or start.R eplace this fuse using only an identical 7.5 a mp replace m entfuse. Whenever the fuse is re moved or replaced, the exercise ti m erneeds to be reset.4.2 CHECKING THE ENGINEOIL LEVELFor oil capacities, see the Specifications section. For engine oilrecomm endations, see the Engine O il R ecomm endations section. When power outages necessitate running the generator for extend-ed periods of ti m e, the oil level should be checked daily. To check the engine oil level, proceed as follows ( Figures 4.1, 4.2and 4.3) :1. If the generator is running during a utility outage, first turn O FFall associated loads running in the residence. S econd, turn thegenerator' s m ain circuit breaker to the O FF position.2. Move the AUTO/O FF/MANUAL switch to the O FF position.3. R e move the dipstick and wipe it dry with a clean cloth.4. Completely insert the dipstick; then, re move it again. The oillevel should be at the dipstick “Full” m ark. If necessary, addoil to the “Full” m ark only. DO NOT FI LL ABOVE THE “F ULL”MARK.Never operate the engine with the oil levelbelow the “Add” mark on the dipstick. Doing thiscould damage the engine.Figure 4.1 — Oil Dipstick and Fill, 8kWOil Dipstick and FillFigure 4.2 — Oil Dipstick, 10kWSection 4 — MaintenanceAir-cooled Generators
