For RS485 communications, theGE Multilin F485 converter will be required. Refer to the F485 manual for additionaldetails. To configure the relay for Ethernet communications, see ConfiguringEthernet Communications on page 4ñ13.1. Install and start the latest version of the enerVista 745 Setup software(available from the GE enerVista CD). See the previous section for theinstallation procedure.2. Click on the Device Setup button to open the Device Setup window and clickthe Add Site button to define a new site.3. Enter the desired site name in the Site Name field. If desired, a shortdescription of site can also be entered along with the display order of devicesdefined for the site. In this example, we will use ìTransformer Station 1î as thesite name. Click the OK button when complete.4. The new site will appear in the upper-left list in the enerVista 745 Setupwindow.5. Click the Add Device button to define the new device.6. Enter the desired name in the Device Name field and a description (optional)of the site.7. Select ìSerialî from the Interface drop-down list. This will display a number ofinterface parameters that must be entered for proper RS232 functionality.ñ Enter the slave address and COM port values (from the S1 745 SETUP !"SERIAL PORTS menu) in the Slave Address and COM Port fields.ñ Enter the physical communications parameters (baud rate and paritysetpoints) in their respective fields. Note that when communicating to therelay from the front port, the default communications settings are a baudrate of 9600, with slave address of 1, no parity, 8 bits, and 1 stop bit.These values cannot be changed.
