Note: After you replace the battery, you must reconfigure your server and resetthe system date and time.To replace the battery:1. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all external cablesand power cords (see “Preparing to install options” on page 46); then removethe cover (see “Removing the left-side cover (tower model)” on page 48 or“Removing the cover (rack model)” on page 49).2. Locate the battery on the system board (see “System-board componentlocations” on page 99).3. Remove adapters to allow access to the battery. (See “Installing a hot-plugPCI adapter” on page 56 for information about installing and removing adaptersfrom the hot-plug PCI slots.)4. Remove the plastic dividers between the hot-swap PCI slots to allow access tothe battery.5. Remove the battery:a. Use one finger to lift the battery clip over the battery.b. Use one finger to slightly slide the battery toward the rear of the server.The spring mechanism behind the battery will push it out toward you as youslide it forward.c. Use your thumb and index finger to pull the battery from under the batteryclip.d. Ensure that the battery clip is touching the base of the battery socket bypressing gently on the clip.6. Insert the new battery:a. Tilt the battery so that you can insert it into the front of the socket, underthe battery clip.b.
