Software Terms 517Software TermsTo operate on the designated serial number machine, OS/400 Version 5 requires a uniqueOS/400 license authorization code supplied by IBM. The OS/400 License Authorization Codeis preloaded by IBM on new iSeries server purchases.In the case of a hardware upgrade to a Version 5 server or a software-only upgrade toOS/400 Version 5, the OS/400 License Authorization Code provided by IBM must be enteredat the time of installation. OS/400 Version 5 operates for 70 days without the LicenseAuthorization Code. During those 70 days, the system generates daily warning messagesrequesting that the customer obtain an OS/400 License Authorization Code from IBM. After70 days, users are not permitted to sign on to the system. A valid OS/400 LicenseAuthorization Code is required to reset the 70-day period.For software-only OS/400 Version 5 orders, the OS/400 License Authorization Code isordered from IBM. Contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner for orderinginformation.LPAR Systems and Guidance for Software Keys for UpgradesCustomers running logical partitioning may have more than one version or release of asoftware product on the same iSeries server. Version upgrades are acquired for customersrunning in LPAR via software subscription just as they are for customers without LPAR. Forcustomers performing a processor group upgrade and a release upgrade at the same time,the processor group upgrade must be performed for the V4R4 products followed by therelease upgrade to V4R5, to ensure the necessary keys are sent automatically. Forcustomers who do a processor upgrade following the V4R5 release upgrade, they need tocontact the key center to request the necessary V4R4 keys at the higher processor grouplevel. If a processor group upgrade is performed, all processor-based products will be pricedaccording to the Software Machine Group of the underlying iSeries hardware model.Software SubscriptionCustomers must purchaseSoftware Subscription when they move to Version 4 or 5. SoftwareSubscription entitles the customer to all future updates that are available during the contractperiod for any eligible software that the customer has licensed. Additional licenses, userprograms, optional features, and processor upgrades are chargeable and not includedupdates. Software Subscription is available at prepaid options of one and three years(5733-SW1 and 5733-SW3 respectively). The products are not automatically shipped to thecustomer. As updates are announced, customers have to contact their IBM Representative orIBM Business Partner.The price of Software Subscription is the same, regardless of the software that has beenlicensed to a system. Most iSeries software is covered by Software Subscription. Customerswho did not take out Software Subscription when they installed Version 4 or Version 5, or whodo not renew their contracts before the renewal date, must either re-license the software or
