This function isusually assigned to a prime telephone,but this can be changed under Featuresettings in Sys prgrammng.Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA):A device that permits analogtelecommunication devices such as faxmachines, answering machines, andsingle line telephones to be connected tothe Norstar system. Programmeddefaults for the ATA are automaticallyassigned by the Norstar system.ANSI: American National StandardsInstitute.Answer button: A telephone buttonwith an indicator that is used to monitoranother telephone. The answer buttonindicates incoming calls destined for theother telephone. Someone working at atelephone with answer buttons (anattendant, for example) can receive allringing and visual indication ofincoming calls for other telephones, andanswer those calls when necessary.One telephone can have up to fourAnswer buttons. An Answer button isautomatically assigned to a telephonewhen that telephone is assigned anAnswer DN.Answer DN: The internal or directorynumber (DN) of a telephone that ismonitored by an Answer button. Youcan assign up to four Answer DNs to atelephone under Line Access inTerminals and Sets programming.Autobumping: ²¡ÚÞA feature that determines what thesystem does with new Call Log itemswhen your Call Log is full. WhenAutobumping is on, a new log entrycauses the oldest entry to be deleted. IfAutobumping is off, your Norstarsystem does not log calls when your logis full.autodial button: A memory buttonthat, if programmed, provides one-touchdialing of external or internal numbers.autolog options: ²¥¡ÝA feature that allows you to select thetype of calls that are stored in your CallLog. You can choose to log calls thatwere not answered by anyone within thesystem, to log calls that wereunanswered at this telephone but whichwere answered elsewhere in the system,to log all calls answered and notanswered at this telephone, or to nothave calls automatically logged.Automatic Dial: A feature that allowsyou to dial without having to pick up thereceiver or select a line. You must havea prime line to use Automatic Dial.Automatic Dial is assigned underDialing options in Terminals&Setsprogramming.
