Chapter 3 Installing the Passport 8672ATME Module 45Using the Passport 8672ATME ModuleTo verify that the Passport 8672ATME Module is ready to receive and transmittraffic, check the LEDs on the module and the MDA. Once you enable the portsusing the CLI or Device Manager, the online LED on the module lights steadygreen, and the module is ready. See “Online LED” on page 30 and “MDA LEDs”on page 31.For information on enabling ports, refer to “Editing port parameters” on page 58.You configure and manage the Passport 8600 series switch operation for yournetwork using the command line interface (CLI) or SNMP-based networkmanagement software, such as Device Manager. In thiscase, the system saves the previous configurations. If you hot-swap the modulewith a module that has different MDAs installed, you must reconfigure themodule.If you are hot-swapping modules, read the following section for information abouthow the routing switch recognizes replacement modules and how to avoidpotential problems.Warning: The Passport 8672ATME Module itself is hot-swappable; theMDAs necessary to pass traffic on the module are not hot-swappable.
