Insert the other end of the telephone cable into the socket in yourtelephone, handset or answering machine.Note 1: To connect both an answering machine and a telephone, firstconnect your answering machine to your fax machine and theninsert your telephone’s cable into the telephone socket on youranswering machine.Note 2: You will need to have the TAD mode feature turned on for ananswering machine to work with your fax machine. See Settingthe Answering Mode later in this user’s guide.Note 3: When the ISDN option is installed, an external telephone oranswering machine cannot be connected because voicecommunication is not supported on this fax machine when usingISDN.Connecting power cableCAUTION:Before connecting power, ensure that the power switch is OFF (“0” is indepressed position)1. Insert the power cable into the power inlet socket located on theback of the fax machine.
