IV - 12Section 4 - Chapter 2 - Configuring the OkiLAN 6120eOKI OkiLAN 6120e User’s GuideMost UNIX operating systems support either the RARPor BOOTP protocol. To find out which protocol youroperating system supports, request the manual page forthe protocol’s daemon (e.g. man bootpd or man rarpd),or see your network manuals. Both protocols requirethat you add the product’s network hardware addressand IP address to a configuration file. See your networkdocumentation for instructions or refer to Appendix B,Application Considerations.Note: An IP address received from a RARP orBOOTP server is not permanently programmedinto the OkiLAN 6120e. Therefore, if youchoose this method of assigning the IP address, the RARP or BOOTP server must be availableevery time the OkiLAN 6120e is powered onor reset. The IP address can be storedpermanently using telnet, OkiNet for TCP/IP,OkiNet for NetWare or the OkiNet for VINESutility (may apply to other OkiLAN print servermodels).A Winsock compliant BOOTP server is located on theOkiNet for TCP/IP diskette. This has been provided forusers who do not have UNIX machines.Other UtilitiesThe IP address can also be set from Novell NetWareusing the OkiNet for NetWare utility or through theBanyan VINES OkiNet for VINES utility (may applyto other OkiLAN print server models).Note: The OkiNet for NetWare and OkiNet forVINES utilities can only be used if NovellNetWare or Banyan VINES are installed onyour network respectively (may apply to otherOkiLAN print server models).
