Network operations > 66NETWORK OPERATIONSThis chapter explains the various network protocols available to the user for configuring theprinter to their specific network environment. The default network configuration forIP Address Set: Automatic (equivalent to DHCP On).You may choose to disable Automatic IP Address Set by selecting IP Address Set: Manual(equivalent to DHCP Off).NETWORK PROTOCOLSThe printer supports the following protocols:> IPv4 (TCP/UDP)> IPv6> IPsec> 802.1x authentication> SSL/TLS> DHCP> DNS> DDNS> WINS> LPD> SNMP v1, v2, v3> FTP> POP3> SMTP> HTTP> EtherTalk> Bonjour> Netware> IPX/SPXNETWORK FEATURESThis section describes some of the advanced networking features in the printer. For furtherinformation, see the Network Guide.IP FILTERINGThe purpose of IP filtering is to limit access to the printer to only those Host computers thathave IP addresses within IP ranges predefined on the configuration page. The IPconfiguration page, accessible from the EWS (when logged in as administrator), has enableand disable parameters. When IP filtering is disabled, all network traffic is allowed. When IP filtering is enabled and incoming data is from an address that falls within thepredefined range, it is allowed to print, if the “Printing” or “Config” checkboxes are checked. If the incoming data does not fall into a predefined range, it is rejected. In cases where IP ranges overlap but have different permissions (for example, one to printonly and another to print and configure), permissions for the overlapping addresses are
