33 (E)Useful functionsExternal timer recordingUsing an external timer, recording can be started andended at any time which has been set.Before setting the external timer recording, completethe connections as well as the steps for “Setting thedate and time” (page 11) and “Setting the recordingtime mode and number of cameras” (page 14).When using an external timer connected to theunit’s power cord (control exercised at theprimary power supply side)1 Connect the external timer to the unit’s power cord,and turn on its power.2 Set the unit’s POWER switch to ON, and insert thecassette tape.3 Set the PROGRAM switch to the MENU position.The setting menu screen now appears on the TVmonitor.4 Press the PAGE (+) or PAGE (–) button to displaythe P7 TERMINAL INPUT SELECT screen.The flashing items are ones that can be set.[TERMINAL INPUT SELECT] P7EXT TIMER IN OFFTIME ADJUST IN 9:00[TERMINAL OUTPUT SELECT]ALARM/SENSOR OUT CONTINUEERROR WARN/REC OUT WARNINGEXT TIMER OUT START 0:00END 0:00[VIDEO OUT SEQUENCE]SW INTERVAL 2sBYPASS CAMERA OFFSW NOISE CANCEL ONLL CAMERA OFF[EXT SWITCHER]MODE VIDEO OUT5 Use the (4) and (3) SHIFT buttons to move theflashing part to the EXT TIMER IN item, and pressthe (+) and (–) SET buttons to select OFF as theitem’s setting.6 Upon completion of the settings, set thePROGRAM switch to the OFF position.The setting menu screen is cleared from the TVmonitor, and the normal mode is restored.7 Press the TIMER MODE button on the front paneland set it to the external timer recording mode (the“EXT” lamp lights on the display tube).O If the cassette tape has not been inserted or itsaccidental erasure prevention tab has beenbroken out, the buzzer will sound, and the EXTlamp will flash.At the same time, the cassette tape with itsaccidental prevention tab been broken out willbe ejected.
