56 ............................................. |City Series CV60E-1installation56 | City Series CV60E-17. Ensure that the pipe clearances to combustiblematerials are maintained (Diagram 55). Installthe termination cap.Note: If installing termination on avinyl siding covered wall, a vinylsiding standoff or furring stripsmust be used to ensure that thetermination is not recessed intothe siding. The four wood screws provided should bereplaced with appropriate fasteners for stucco, brick, concrete, or other types of sidings.8. Before connecting the horizontal run of ventpipe to the vent termination, slide the WallThimble over the vent pipe. The wall thimbleis required for all horizontal terminations.9. Slide the appliance and vent assembly towardsthe wall carefully inserting the vent pipe intothe vent cap assembly. It is important that thevent pipe extends into the vent cap sufficientdistance so as to result in a minimum pipeoverlap of 1-1/4 inches (32mm). Secure theconnection between the vent pipe and the ventcap.10. Install wall thimble in the center of the framedhole and attach with wood screws.Install the vent system according to themanufacturer's instructions included with thecomponents.1. Set the unit in its desired location. Check todetermine if wall studs or roof rafters are inthe way when the venting system is attached. If this is the case, you may want to adjust thelocation of the unit. Rough in the gas preferablyon the right side of the unit and the electrical(junction block is on the left side) on the left.2. Direct Vent pipe and fittings are designed withspecial twist-lock connections to connect theventing system to the appliance flue outlet. Atwist-lock appliance adaptor is required.3. In conjunction with the Approved Vent system, install the adaptor after the unit is set in itsdesired location. Slip the adapter over theexisting inner and outer flue collar. Fasten tothe outer collar only with the 3 supplied screws(drilling pilot holes will make this easier).4. Level the fireplace and fasten it to the framingusing nails or screws through the top and sidenailing strips.Horizontal runs of vent must be supportedevery 3 feet (0.9meter). Wall straps are avail-able for this purpose.6. Mark the wall for a square hole.-see chart to leftfor size. The center of the square hole shouldline up with the center-line of the horizontalpipe. Cut and frame the square hole in theexterior wall where the vent will be terminated.See diagram 54 for center line requirements. If the wall being penetrated is constructed ofnon-combustible material, i.e. masonry blockor concrete, an 8" (203mm) diameter hole isacceptable.Notes:a) The horizontal run of vent must be level,or have a 1/4 inch rise for every 1 foot ofrun towards the termination. Never allowthe vent to run downward. This could causehigh temperatures and may present thepossibility of a fire.b) The location of the horizontal venttermination on an exterior wall must meetall local and national building codes, andmust not be blocked or obstructed. See"Exterior Vent Termination Locations"section for more details.5. Assemble the desired combination of pipe andelbows to the appliance adaptor and twist-lockfor a solid connection.Note: For best results and optimumperformance with each approvedventing system, it is highlyrecommended to apply “Mill-Pac” sealant (supplied) to everyinner pipe connection. Failure todo so may result in drafting orperformance issues not coveredunder warranty.58-3/16" (1478 mm)centerof holeHorizontal Top* 3" (76mm)*Horizontal Side 2 " (51mm)Horizontal Bottom 2" (51mm)Vertical Vent 2" (51mm)Minimum Vent Clearances toCombustiblesUnit Installation withHorizontal Termination5" x 8" Venting(Rigid Vent Systems)Below are the recommended framing dimensions(inside measurements) for the 5" x 8" rigid ventterminations - for use with a firestop or wall thimble.Diagram 2Diagram 3Diagram 4* Clearances noted below must be maintained;except when passing through a wall, ceiling orat the termination where the use of a firestop orwall thimble reduces clearance to 1-1/2" (38mm).c) Snorkel Terminations:For installations requiring a vertical rise on theexterior of the building, 14-inch and 36-inchtall Snorkel Terminations are available, as wellas the standard Riser Vent. Follow the sameinstallation procedures as used for standardHorizontal Termination. NEVER install the snorkelupside down.Below Grade Snorkel InstallationIf the snorkel termination must be installed belowgrade, i.e. basement application, proper drainagemust be provided to prevent water from enteringthe snorkel termination.
