Operating Instructions41WARNINGA brake stops the cutter blades fromfree wheeling within five (5) seconds afterdis engaging the clutch. If the brake sys-tem malfunctions and the blades do notstop within five (5) seconds, the brakeshould be adjusted or repaired before fur-ther operation of the mower. Contact yourWalker dealer, or refer to ADJUSTMENTSof Clutch Disengagement/Brake Action inMaintenance Instructions.4. Slow the engine to idle, put throttle in IDLE position; turn the ignition switch OFF.WARNINGRemove the key from the ignition switchwhen leaving the mower unattended. Thiswill prevent children and inexperiencedoperators from starting the engine.5. Engage the parking brake by moving the leverforward.IMPORTANT: The hydrostatic transmissionslock to prevent the mower from rolling freelywith the engine stopped. However, if the mower is parked on a slope, it is necessary to EN-GAGE the parking BRAKE to prevent themower from creeping. This is due to a smallamount of slippage in the hydrostatic transmissions, especially when transmission fluid iswarm. Also, engaging the parking brake is recommended when stopping or parking the machine in a confined space with little tolerancefor movement.WARNINGIn case the transmission drive belt breaksduring operation, and if the machine is ona slope, the machine will freewheel downthe slope. To maintain control, immediately(1) Release the steering levers andsimultaneously (2) Move the FSC to theNEUTRAL-PARK position. When thema chine is stopped or moving slowly,en gage the parking brake.NOTE: The emergency stop procedure is exactlythe same procedure as used to normally stop andpark the machine.FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVEThe tractor is equipped with dual fuel tanks. A fuelselector valve regulates which tank is being utilized.The valve is located on the left hand side of the engine. The valve switches between the LH and RHgas tanks.
