General Information1HIGHLIGHTED INFORMATIONWalker Manufacturing recommends that any servicerequiring special training or tools be performed byan authorized Walker Mower dealer. There are several general practices to be aware of in the area ofsafety. Most accidents associated with the operation or maintenance of a Walker Mower are causedby disregarding basic safety precautions or specificwarnings. Such accidents, in most cases, can beprevented by being aware of the dangers present.Information of special importance has been highlighted in bold type in this manual. Refer to SafetyInstructions for the meanings of DANGER, WARN-ING, CAUTION, IMPORTANT, and NOTE.GLOSSARYThere are many terms that are either unique to thisequipment or that are used as acronyms. Thefollowing terms and their definitions will help whileusing this manual:● DECK is the mowing attachment mounted onthe front of the tractor which includes the carrierframe, deck housing, blade spindles, and cutterblades.● ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) controlsengine functions such as spark timing, fuel/airratio, etc.● FORWARD SPEED CONTROL (FSC) controlsthe maximum forward speed of the tractor;functioning as a cruise control.● GROUND DRIVE refers to the dual transaxleswhich drive the main wheels.● LEFT HAND (LH) refers to the lefthand side ofthe tractor when the operator is seated facingforward in the tractor seat.● POWER TAKE-OFF (PTO) transmits enginepower to run the cutter blades.● REAR DISCHARGE (RD) discharges mowedmaterial from the back of the mower deck.● RIGHT HAND (RH) refers to the righthand sideof the tractor when the operator is seated facingforward in the tractor seat.● ROLL-OVER PROTECTION SYSTEM (ROPS)offers enhanced operator protection in the eventof a rollover type accident .● SIDE DISCHARGE (SD) discharges mowedmaterial from the right side of the mower deck.● STEERING LEVERS steer the tractor by controlling the two transaxles.● TRACTOR is the prime mover, including theengine, drivetrain, operator seat, and controlsto operate the mower.● TRANSAXLE transmits and controls powerfrom the ground drive belt to the main drivewheel.● TRANSAXLE LOCKOUT ARMS release thetransaxles to permit freewheeling the tractor.IDENTIFYING NUMBER LOCATIONSThe tractor serial number plate is affixed to the tractor body just below the left rear corner of the seat.The mower deck serial number plate is affixedalongside the angle iron framing on the LH side ofthe LH mower blade drive. Model and serial numbers are helpful when obtaining replacement partsand maintenance assistance.
