Ensure that you are inserting the document correctly. Refer toLocatorfeature andManual document loading for more information.• Center the document between the marks on the feed tray.• Smoothly insert the document into the feed mechanism so that the entirelead edge of the document is against the rollers before the Scannerbegins to stage the document.2. Check the operation of the two document sensor switches.a. Press the Menu key.b. Navigate to the CONFIGURATION/ SCANNER CONTROL menu.c. Ensure that AUTO SCAN is set to DISABLED.d. Open the top cover.e. Remove the plastic Document Hold Down Guide.f. Ensure that the Scanner is switched on.g. Manually actuate the front sensor.− The sensor should actuate easily, with no sticking.− The drive rollers should rotate while the sensor is actuated and stopafter 3 seconds.− If these actions are not obtained, call for service.h. Hold down the front sensor, and then actuate the rear sensor within1 second.− The sensor should actuate easily, with no sticking.− The drive rollers should operate in the reverse direction as long asthe rear sensor is actuated.
