For additional troubleshooting information, see Help Resources on page 208.Warning: Never open or remove printer covers that are secured with screws unless specificallyinstructed to do so in the manual. A high voltage component can cause electric shock. Do not try toalter the printer configuration or modify any parts. An unauthorized modification can cause smokeor fire.Caution: Probable causes of trouble are that the printer, computer, server or other hardware is notcorrectly set for the network environment you are using, or a printer restriction has been exceeded.General Printer ProblemsSymptom Cause SolutionNo power to the printer. The power cord is not correctlyplugged into the outlet.Turn off the printer if on, confirmthat the power cord is correctlyplugged in, then turn on the printer.Something is wrong with the outletconnected to the printer.Plug another electrical device intothe outlet and see whether itoperates properly.The power switch is not correctlyturned on.Turn off the printer, then turn onthe printer.The printer is connected to anoutlet with a voltage or frequencythat does not match the printerspecifications.Use a power source with thespecifications listed in ElectricalSpecifications on page 211.The control panel displays theToner Low message muchsooner than expected.One of the toner cartridges may bedefective.Remove the toner cartridges andinspect them for damage. Replaceany that are damaged.Printed with heavy toner coverage. Check the paper specifications toensure you are using the correcttype. See Paper Usage Guidelineson page 53, and Usable Paper onpage 56. Also check that you areusing Xerox-approved toner.
