16. Introduction to the Command WorkStationXerox Phaser 79016–8Access levelsThe three possible levels of access to Command WorkStationfunctions are Administrator, Operator, and Guest. To enable maximumpassword protection, Administrator and Operator passwords must bespecified in Setup. Refer to the chapter Performing the setup from thePrinter Control Panel or Performing the setup from WebSetup.When both Administrator and Operator passwords have beenspecified, the access levels are as follows:Access level Privileges and password requirementsAdministrator Has full access to all Command WorkStationand Printer Control Panel functions;Administrator password requiredOperator Has access to all Command WorkStationfunctions, clearing the server disk, clearing theJob Log, and font management; Operatorpassword required.Guest Can view job status, but cannot make changesto jobs or Setup, and can view the Queueswindow only; no password required.Access privileges alone do not confer control of print jobs. If the operator isgoing to manage all print jobs, the administrator must route all user jobs tothe Hold queue (that is, all jobs are spooled and held on the server). Toaccomplish this, only the Hold queue, and not the Direct connection or thePrint queue, should be enabled in Setup.Logging outPerform one of the following:• From the Server menu, select Log out.• Open the Log in/out slider (select the key icon just below theFiery logo) and select Log out.
