Pol eyepiece contains areticle firmly glued into it (cannot be changed),which is of defined orientation. When changingthe interpu-pillary distance on the binocular phototube, the two eyepiece tubes follow this rotarymotion synchronously, so that the position of theorientation grooves in the eyepiece tubes remainsunchanged.• Insert the eyepiece into the binocular phototube, fitting the locating screw (Fig. 3-5/2) intothe tube’s orientation groove (Fig. 3-5/1).The PL 10x/23 GW foc. Pol eyepiece (444038-9900-000) can be combined with a PL 10x/23 GW foc.eyepiece (444036-9000-000).Inserting the eyepiece reticleEyepiece reticles (Fig. 3-6/5) can be used witheyepieces (Fig. 3-6/3) marked with a red dot(Fig. 3-6/R).• Unscrew mounting stop (Fig. 3-6/6) from theeyepiece (Fig. 3-6/3).• Pull locking ring (Fig. 3-6/4) out.• Insert eyepiece reticle (Fig. 3-6/5) into themounting stop and fix it with the locking ring.• Screw mounting stop (Fig. 3-6/6) into theeyepiece (Fig. 3-6/3).Make sure that the side of the reticle (Fig. 3-6/5)with the line pattern on it is facing the mountingstop in the tube (Fig. 3-6/6) (the line pattern occursmirror-inverted from the observer’s point of viewbefore the insertion). After insertion into the beampath of the microscope it is readable true to side. The slight image shift caused by the additional path through glass is taken into account on the diopterscale by the fact that the zero point position is indicated not by the white dot (Fig. 3-6/W), but the reddot (Fig. 3-6/R).NOTEThe eyepiece reticles must be inserted under dust-free conditions. This should be carried outonly by ZEISS Service.Fig. 3-5 Inserting the E-PL 10x/23 GW foc.Pol eyepieces into the binocularphoto tube with upright imageFig. 3-6 Inserting the eyepiece reticle
