START-UPZEISS Mounting standard components Axioscope 5/7/Vario64 430035-7344-001 03/20183.1.19.2 Adjusting the HAL 100Coarse setting• After loosening the clamping screw (428HFig. 3-29/1or 4 2 9 H Fig. 3-29/9), remove the ready-to-operatehalogen illuminator (430HFig. 3-30/2) from themicroscope stand.• Switch on the external power supply unit of theHAL 100 (see section 3.3.3)431H.• Direct the light beam towards a projectingsurface (wall) which is at least 3 m away.CAUTIONNever look directly into the light-emitting aperture of the illuminator!• Adjust the adjustment screw (432HFig. 3-30/3) usingan Allen wrench (AF 3) until both images of thelamp filament appear as sharp as possible onthe projection surface.• Adjust the adjustment screws (433HFig. 3-30/4 and 5) so that the lamp filament of one image exactly fillsthe gaps of the reflected image (434HFig. 3-30/1).Fine setting• Mount the illuminator on the microscope stand again and tighten the clamping screw to lock it.• If applicable, remove the filter from the beam path.• Focus the objective ≤ 40x on the flat specular surface of a sample and go to a free area of thespecimen.• Remove the eyepiece and center the lamp filament and its reflection in the eye pupil image with theadjustment screws (435HFig. 3-30/4 and 5).• Optimize the even illumination of the pupil image with the adjustment screws (436HFig. 3-30/3).• If applicable, replace the filter in the beam path.Fig. 3-30 Adjusting the HAL 100
