START-UPAxioscope 5/7/Vario Mounting standard components ZEISS03/2018 430035-7344-001 633.1.19 Mounting and adjusting theHAL 100 halogen illuminatorThe HAL 100 halogen illuminator may serve as alight source for transmitted light and reflected lightprocedures (except fluorescence light) as long aseither the lower or upper part of the stand isequipped with the appropriate connection piece.When mounting the halogen illuminator, nodifference is made between reflected light andtransmitted light procedures.3.1.19.1 Mounting the HAL 100ATTENTIONBefore switching on the halogenilluminator, remove the tools(437HFig. 3-31/7) included in the illuminatorcase to prevent them from beingdamaged by heat.• With the Allen wrench (AF 3) loosen theclamping screw of the respective illuminationconnector (lower for TL (419HFig. 3-29/8), upper forRL (420HFig. 3-29/1)) on the back of the stand.• Insert the lamp case (Fig. 3-29/7) with the dovetail ring into the connector (4 1 9 H Fig. 3-29/2 or 4 2 0 H Fig. 3-29/3).Now fixate it by tightening the clamping screw (Fig. 3-29/1 or 4 2 2 H Fig. 3-29/8) with the Allen wrench.NOTEDue to the lack of ground clearance it is important to avoid tilting the illuminator wheninserting it into the lower stand part. Check for straight and correct fit.• Connect the 3-pin lamp plug (Fig. 3-29/6) to the respective socket on the back of the external powersupply unit (suited for two lamps) (Fig. 3-29/5): plug the TL illuminator into the lower TL socket, plugthe RL illuminator into the upper RL socket.• Connect the cable (Fig. 3-29/4) for illumination intensity control (see section 3.3.2).NOTEIf this cable is connected to the stand, the illumination intensity of the HAL 100 in use can bevaried by rotating the Intensity/LM knob (Fig. 2-2/6).If this cable is not connected to the stand, the illumination intensity of the HAL 100 in use canbe varied by rotating the adjusting wheel of the external power supply unit.To switch between the illuminators for reflected and for transmitted light, flip the toggleswitch of the power supply unit to TL for transmitted light or to RL for reflected light (seesection 3.3).Fig. 3-29 Mounting the HAL 100
