Logging In To the Command Line Interface 111Accessing theCommand LineInterface Over theNetworkTo manage the Webcache using the Command Line Interface over anetwork using Telnet, open a Telnet session using a terminal emulator byspecifying the IP address of the Webcache. If you are unsure how to dothis, check the documentation supplied with the Telnet facility.Logging In To theCommand LineInterfaceTo log in to the Command Line Interface, take the following steps:1 Set up your network for Command Line Interface management; for moreinformation, see “Accessing the Command Line Interface” on page 109.The login sequence for the Command Line Interface begins as soon asthe Webcache detects a connection to its console port, or as soon as aTelnet session is started.If the login sequence does not begin immediately, press Return a fewtimes until it does begin. If the sequence still does not begin, see “SolvingCommand Line Interface Problems” on page 133.2 At the Login and Password prompts, enter your user name and password.For further information, see “Logging in as a Default User” on page 58.To prevent unauthorized configuration of the Webcache, 3Comrecommends that you change the default password as soon as possible.To do this using the Command Line Interface, you need to log in as thedefault user and then follow the steps described in “Changing the AdminPassword” on page 121.If you have logged on correctly, the Top-level menu of the Command LineInterface is displayed as described in “Understanding the Command LineInterface” on page 112. If you have not logged on correctly, the messageIncorrect password. is displayed and the login sequence starts again.Exiting the Interface You can exit the Command Line Interface at any time; to do this, enterlogout at the Top-level of the Command Line Interface. If there is aperiod of inactivity lasting longer than 30 minutes, you are logged out ofthe Command Line Interface automatically. After the exit, the first keythat you press returns you to the login sequence.
